Most gold medals won consecutively at the Olympics by an individual (male)
According to Official Guinness Records,
The most gold medals won consecutively at the Olympics by an individual male is 4, achieved by Paul Bert Elvstrom (Denmark) in monotype yachting (class change;Firefly to Finn class) from 1948 to 1960. This was equalled by Al Oerter (USA) in discus from 1956 to 1968, and Carl Lewis (USA) in long-jump from 1984 to 1996, and finally by Michael Phelps in the 200 meter swimming medley from 2004 to 2016. Raymond Clarence Ewry (USA) won both the standing long jump and the standing high jump at four games in succession, 1900, 1904, 1906 and 1908. The results were achieved at the Intercalated Games of 1906, which were staged officially by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the time. However, they are no longer recognised by the IOC, which is a requirement of the record.
