First independent Olympian to win a gold medal

According to Official Guinness Records,

The first independent Olympian to win a gold medal is Fehaid Al-Deehani (Kuwait) who achieved gold in the men’s double trap shooting, at the 2016 Olympic Games, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 10 August 2016.Fehaid is a Kuwait national but represented the Independent Olympic Athletes team as Kuwait were suspended from the games. Fehaid beat Italy's Marco Innocenti in the final 26–24.
