The fastest long course swim in the 400 metres freestyle (female) is 3 min 56.46 sec, achieved by Katie Ledecky (USA) at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 7 August 2016.Katie beat her own world record by almost 2 seconds.
