India is the world’s most prolific film-making nation, with 1,724 feature films produced in 2013, according to India's Central Board of Film Certification. By comparison, the USA released 738 movies in the same year. A report by the Motion Picture Association of America estimated the value of Bollywood to be $1.7 billion in 2014. Bollywood, as it is known, is the largest movie industry in terms of output, followed by Nollywood – the movie industry of Nigeria – which, according to estimates from UNESCO's Institute of Statistics, produces around 1,000 feature films each year. The same source places the USA in third place, closely followed by China (638 movies in 2013) and Japan (591 movies).
