Highest-grossing animation at the global box office (opening day)
According to Official Guinness Records,
Pixar's Finding Dory (USA, 2016), the long-awaited sequel to Finding Nemo (USA, 2003), grossed $54,746,405 (£38.6 million) from 4,305 US cinemas when it opened to the public on 17 June 2016, according to The Numbers (www.the-numbers.com). This was also the highest grossing 24 hours for an animated movie ever.Finding Dory also set records for fastest animated movie to gross $100 million and highest-grossing opening weekend for an animation (domestic).It is the 35th highest-grossing day for a movie overall;in the No.1 spot is Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens (USA, 2015), which took $119,119,282 on 18 December 2015.
