According to Official Guinness Records,

The fastest short-track speed skating 500 metres by a female athlete is 42.335 seconds and was achieved by Elise Christie (UK) at an ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Cup event at the Utah Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, on 13 November 2016. Christie recorded her score in the quarter-final of the competition, only to fall in the final. Five world records were set in two days at a remarkably fast meet in Utah.
