Thompson Magawana (South Africa) ran 50 km (31.06 miles) in 2 hours 43 minutes 38 seconds during the Two Oceans Ultramarathon – which runs from Claremont to Kirstenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa – on 12 April 1988.As of January 2015, the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) no longer classifies World Best Performances by surface, creating a single combined list of fastest times.
