The Roman Catholic Church, according to the General Roman Calendar, celebrates the following in Tuesday, 2024-10-15:

  • St. Teresa of Jesus, Virgin, Doctor of the Church (Memorial) 2024:

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Galatians 5:18-25

18But if you are led by the Spirit you are not under the law. 19Now the works of the flesh are plain: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, 20idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit, 21envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law. 24And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalms 1:1-4, 6

1Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. 4The wicked are not so, but are like chaff which the wind drives away. 6for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Luke 11:42-46

42"But woe to you Pharisees! for you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect justice and the love of God; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 43Woe to you Pharisees! for you love the best seat in the synagogues and salutations in the market places. 44Woe to you! for you are like graves which are not seen, and men walk over them without knowing it." 45One of the lawyers answered him, "Teacher, in saying this you reproach us also." 46And he said, "Woe to you lawyers also! for you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.

  • TUESDAY TWENTY-EIGHTH WEEK OF ORDINARY TIME 2024:

    Ordinary Time.

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Gal 5:1-6

    Brothers and sisters:
    For freedom Christ set us free;
so stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.

It is I, Paul, who am telling you
that if you have yourselves circumcised,
Christ will be of no benefit to you.
Once again I declare to every man who has himself circumcised
that he is bound to observe the entire law.
    You are separated from Christ,
    you who are trying to be justified by law;
    you have fallen from grace.
For through the Spirit, by faith, we await the hope of righteousness.
    For in Christ Jesus,
neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything,
but only faith working through love.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Ps 119:41, 43, 44, 45, 47, 48

    R. (41a) Let your mercy come to me, O Lord.
Let your mercy come to me, O LORD,
your salvation according to your promise.
    R. Let your mercy come to me, O Lord.
Take not the word of truth from my mouth,
for in your ordinances is my hope.
    R. Let your mercy come to me, O Lord.
And I will keep your law continually,
    forever and ever.
    R. Let your mercy come to me, O Lord.
And I will walk at liberty,
    because I seek your precepts.
    R. Let your mercy come to me, O Lord.
And I will delight in your commands,
    which I love.
    R. Let your mercy come to me, O Lord.
And I will lift up my hands to your commands
    and meditate on your statutes.
    R. Let your mercy come to me, O Lord.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Lk 11:37-41

    After Jesus had spoken,
a Pharisee invited him to dine at his home.
He entered and reclined at table to eat.
The Pharisee was amazed to see
that he did not observe the prescribed washing before the meal.
The Lord said to him, "Oh you Pharisees!
Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish,
inside you are filled with plunder and evil.
    You fools!
Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside?
But as to what is within, give alms,
and behold, everything will be clean for you."
