Vanessa-Mae (UK) is the youngest soloist to record both the Tchaikovsky and Beethoven violin concertos, aged 13. Her recording of Tchaikovsky's violin concerto in D (Op.35) and Beethoven's violin concerto in D. (Op.61) in 1991 was released on the Trittico label, with proceeds of the sales pledged to charity. NB: Younger violinists may have recorded one of these concertos, but Vanessa-Mae is the youngest violinist to have recorded both, as far as is known. Vanessa-Mae (full name: Vanessa-Mae Vanakorn Nicholson) made her debut with the London Philharmonia aged 10 in 1989. At age 11, she was the youngest ever student in the Royal College of Music and was described by its director "a true child prodigy, like Mozart and Mendelssohn". She went on her first international tour with the London Mozart Players at age 12 (1991), and made three records by the age of 14.
