Sailing - greatest distance in 24 hours

According to Official Guinness Records,

The greatest distance covered under sail in 24 hours is 766.8 nautical (1,420.1 km; 882.4 miles) by the 36.5-m (120-ft) maxi catamaran Orange II captained by Bruno Peyron (France), during the fastest crossing of the Atlantic between 2-7 July 2006. The average speed was 31.95 knots ( 59 km/h or 36.7 mph).
