According to Official Guinness Records,
There are under 200 Chinese alligators (Alligator sinensis) living in the wild in 2002 making it one of the most endangered species on Earth. Found in the lower parts of the Yangtze River in wetland habitats, the species can grow to 2 m (6.5 ft) and weigh 40 kg (88 lb). Their numbers have dwindled over the years due to habitat destruction and killing by local farmers who fear damage to their agricultural land.
