According to Official Guinness Records,

Mariah Carey (USA) has had a record 18 different singles reach No.1 in the US charts beginning with her first on 4 August 1990 ("Vision of Love") through to her most recent on 12 April 2008 ("Touch My Body"). This puts her one ahead of Elvis Presley (USA), who holds the title for most US No.1 singles by a male solo artist. The overall most US No.1 single record is held by a group: The Beatles with 20 No.1s.
