Most US-born first round draft choices According to Official Guinness Records,
The highest number of American-born players drafted in the first round of the NHL Draft in one year is eight, set in July 2005. For the first time ever, two of the top three picks, Bobby Ryan and Jack Johnson, are US-born. Four of the first nine picks were born in the USA, yet another record.
