According to Official Guinness Records,

The most piercings in the tongue is 20 and was achieved by Francesco Vacca (USA) at Invisible Self in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, USA, on 5 January 2017.Frank previously held the record with 16 piercings. He then got two more piercings (totalling 18) and finally decided to get two more, bringing the total to 20.
