The most people simultaneously walking on stilts is 959 and was achieved by Winkelhart Spijkenisse (The Netherlands), in Spijkenisse, The Netherlands, on 16 September 2011. Following the successful opening of Stadsplein Spijkenisse and Kopspijker shopping center on 15/19/11, more than 1200 pupils from 17 primary schools in Spijkenisse, Netherlands on 16 September 2011 attempted to set a new world record. They had to walk 100 meters, all at the same time, on stilts. 957 of them made it, and thus the old record set by 737 professional stilt walkers from Canada was smashed. Alderman Kees Dijkman presented the "best decorated stilts" award to Groups 7 and 8 of primary school - Duif uit Snoekenveen. The world record event was part of "Spijkenisse on Stilts" as Spijkenisse celebrates the total renewal, expansion and completion of its city centre.
