According to Official Guinness Records,

The most people doing crosswords simultaneously is 609 and was achieved by ZDF Fernsehgarten and Stefan Heine (both Germany) at ZDF Fernsehgarten, in Mainz, Germany, on 2 July 2017. The record was broken on the live TV show ZDF Fernsehgarten.
