According to Official Guinness Records,

The most participants in a hand washing relay is 2,669, achieved at an event organised by Rotary International District 3000 (India), in Tamil Nadu, India, on 13 November 2016.The organisers wished to educate participants on the importance of good hygiene in preventing the spread of deadly diseases.
