Largest single donation to AIDS research

According to Official Guinness Records,

On 27 January 2001, Bill Gates announced at the World Economic Forum that the foundation named after himself and wife Melinda would give $100 million (then approx. £68 million) to the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative. The 5-year grant was the largest single donation ever for AIDS research.
