First Olympics held in the Southern Hemisphere

According to Official Guinness Records,

The Olympic Games travelled to the Southern Hemisphere for the first time when it was held in Melbourne, Australia, in 1956. It would be another 44 years before the Games would again visit such southerly climes, when hosted by another Australian city, Sydney, in 2000.
