Although the British series The Avengers (ABC 1961-69) pioneered the concept of the action spy heroine it was American agent April Dancer (played by Stefanie Powers) who was the first female spy to front her own show: The Girl from UNCLE (NBC 1966-67), a spin-off from hit series The Man from UNCLE.
