Fastest run 5,000 metres (male)

According to Official Guinness Records,

The fastest run outdoor 5,000 m by a male athlete is 12 minutes 37.35 seconds, by Kenenisa Bekele (Ethiopia) at the Thales FBK-Games, an IAAF Grand Prix Meeting in Hengelo, the Netherlands, on 31 May 2004. He took two seconds off Haile Gebrselassie's previous record.In 2004, Bekele set three world records (indoor and outdoor 5,000 m, outdoor 10,000 m) and won a gold and silver medal at the Athens Olympics. As of Feb 2018, he still holds the IAAF world record in all three events.
