US Holiday On March 4 2025?
The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Tuesday, 2025-03-04:
Save Your Vision Week:
[fed-ob] As stated by the president in his presidential proclamation, "Save Your Vision Week is a time for all Americans to take action to protect their sight." To remind Americans about the importance of safeguarding their eyesight, the United States Congress, by joint resolution approved December 30, 1963, as amended (77 Stat. 629; 36 U.S.C. 138), has authorized and requested the President to proclaim the first week in March of each year as "Save Your Vision Week." Shrove Tuesday:
[fl-le] Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Tuesday, Pancake Day (or Mardi Gras in Florida counties where carnival associations are organized for the purpose of celebrating the same), is the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. The expression "Shrove Tuesday" comes from the word shrive, meaning "confess." Mardi Gras:
[al] This is an official holiday only in Baldwin and Mobile Counties. All other state employees are granted one personal leave day each year if in employment status on January 1. In Mobile County, during the last two weeks before Mardi Gras, at least one major parade takes place each day in the city. To Mobilians, Mardi Gras refers to the entire festival season, also known as Carnival. Local schools have multiple "Mardi Gras Holidays", which often include Ash Wednesday.
