US Holiday On April 28 2017?

The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Friday, 2017-04-28:

  • National Arbor Day:

National Arbor Day was proclaimed as the last Friday in April by President Richard Nixon in 1970. A number of states, Arbor Day is observed at other times to coincide with the best tree planting weather, from January and February in the south to May in the far north. The observance began in 1872, when Nebraska settlers and homesteaders were urged to plant trees on the largely treeless plains.
  • Workers Memorial Day:

[pro] The twenty-eighth day of April is designated as "Workers Memorial Day"in remembrance of the victims of workplace injuries and disease and in recognition of the need for strong safety and health protections in the workplace. According to the presidential proclamation (2015),
Today, as we remember women and men taken from us too soon, we remind ourselves that even one life lost to a preventable job-related incident is one too many, and we focus our efforts on creating a world where success at the workplace is determined only by the strength of our work ethic and the scope of our dreams.

Notes:

[pro] This is a special day designated by presidential proclamation.
