  • Honor America - Day 14:

    Honor America Days are United States Federal Observances observed from June 14 to July 4. According to 36 U.S.C. § 112, the 21 days from Flag Day through Independence Day is a period to honor America. On these days, Congress declares that there be public gatherings and activities during that period at which the people of the United States can celebrate and honor their country in an appropriate way.
  • Helen Keller Day:

    [pa-sp] Helen Adams Keller (1880–1968) was an American author, political activist, and lecturer. She was the first deafblind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree. As a member of the Socialist Party of America and the Industrial Workers of the World, she campaigned for women's suffrage, labor rights, socialism, and other radical left causes. She was inducted into the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame in 1971. Her birthplace in West Tuscumbia, Alabama is now a museum and sponsors the annual Helen Keller Day. This year is the 137th anniversary of her birth.
  • National HIV Testing Day:

    [nhas] National HIV Testing Day promotes testing as an important strategy to detect, treat, and prevent human immunodeficiency virus infection. Early HIV testing can save lives. Persons who receive appropriate treatment, monitoring, and health care also reduce their chances of transmitting the virus to others.
