US Holiday On May 22 2022?
The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Sunday, 2022-05-22:
National Maritime Day:
[fed-ob][pro] May 22 is National Maritime Day. On National Maritime Day, we honor the women and men who take to the seas to boost our economy and uphold the values we cherish. The President is requested to issue each year a proclamation calling on — (1) the people of the United States to observe National Maritime Day by displaying the flag of the United States at their homes or other suitable places;and (2) United States Government officials to display the flag on all Government buildings on National Maritime Day. According to the Presidential Proclamation (2015), For over two centuries, proud mariners have set sail in defense of our people and in pursuit of opportunity. Through periods of conflict and times of peace, our Nation has relied on the United States Merchant Marine to transport goods to and from our shores and deliver troops and supplies around the world. During National Maritime Day, we celebrate this proud history and salute the mariners who have safeguarded our way of life.
National Safe Boating Week - Day 2:
[fed-ob] Every year, the United States Coast Guard joins partners nationwide to raise awareness about boating responsibly. The goverment of the United States highlights that important work during National Safe Boating Week, and encourages all boaters to take appropriate precautions before casting off this season. In recognition of the importance of safe boating practices, the Congress, by joint resolution approved June 4, 1958 (36 U.S.C. 131), as amended, has authorized and requested the President to proclaim annually the 7-day period prior to Memorial Day weekend as "National Safe Boating Week."National Hurricane Preparedness Week - Day 1:
[pro] As we enter hurricane season, this week is an opportunity to call attention to the need of ensuring the safety of our loved ones and neighbors by building communities ready to weather storms and all natural disasters. According to the Presidential Proclamation (2015), Hurricanes cause devastating and sometimes deadly damage, with violent winds and heavy rains destroying buildings, inundating both coastal and inland areas, and displacing residents from their communities. Each year, we call attention to the risks hurricanes and tropical storms pose, as well as the steps we can take to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities. During National Hurricane Preparedness Week, we recommit to strengthening the capacity of local responders and creating resilient cities, towns, and neighborhoods that are prepared when disaster strikes.
