US Holiday On April 2 2017?

The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Sunday, 2017-04-02:

  • Pascua Florida Day:

[fl-le] Ponce de León, an Spanish explorer, sailed with Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to the New World in 1493 and remained on an island to the south of Florida called Santo Domingo. On his travels in early 1513, Ponce de León sighted the shores of southern Florida, and landed near what is known today as St. Augustine. Because it was the time of the Spanish Easter celebration, Pascua, and because he saw vast amounts of flowers, he called Pascua Florida to the land what we now know as the State of Florida.

Notes:

[fl-le] This is a Legal Holiday in the State of Florida. If a holiday falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as a holiday and if a holidays falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed as a holiday.
