US Holiday On April 16 2017?
The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Sunday, 2017-04-16:
Easter Sunday:
Easter falls on a spring Sunday that varies from year to year. Easter is recognized as a flag day but has not been a federal holiday due to falling always on a Sunday, which is a non-working day for federal and state employees. However, many companies, including banks, malls, shopping centers and most private retail stores that normally open on Sundays are closed on Easter. Easter is a Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For Christians, Easter is a day of religious services and the gathering of family. Many Americans follow old traditions of coloring hard-boiled eggs and giving children baskets of candy. National Park Week - Day 2:
[pro] Every year National Park Week is celebrated in the United States during the month of April. This year National Park Week runs from Saturday, April 15 2017 to Sunday, April 23 2017. It is a chance to hike, learn, share, get active and experience the powerful content knowledge, values, and skills embodied by our Nation’s remarkable cultural, natural, and recreational heritage. There are nearly 400 National Parks coast-to-coast! According to the Presidential Proclamation (2015), Our National Parks have allowed generations to discover history, nature, and wildlife in irreplaceable ways. From the highest peaks of Denali to the lowest dips of the Grand Canyon, families around our country enjoy the splendor of the outdoors. Throughout National Park Week, as we celebrate the ways in which our treasured outdoor spaces enrich our lives and uplift our spirits, the National Park Service will again offer free admission to America's National Parks so more people can explore our country's vast natural beauty.
Child Care Worker Appreciation Week in Ohio:
[oh-sp] The week of the nineteenth day of April shall be designated as "Child Care Worker Appreciation Week in Ohio," to commemorate those child care workers who lost their lives in the bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building on April 19, 1995, and to increase public appreciation of child care workers in Ohio. As used in this section, "the week of the nineteenth day of April" means the seven-day period beginning on Sunday and ending on Saturday that includes the nineteenth day of April.
