US Holiday On June 14 2017?
The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Wednesday, 2017-06-14:
National Flag Week - Day 4:
[fed-ob] The week of June 14 (Flag Day) is designated as the National Flag Week. During National Flag Week, the President of the United States will issue a proclamation urging U.S. citizens to fly the American flag for the duration of that week. Honor America - Day 1:
Honor America Days are United States Federal Observances observed from June 14 to July 4. According to 36 U.S.C. § 112, the 21 days from Flag Day through Independence Day is a period to honor America. On these days, Congress declares that there be public gatherings and activities during that period at which the people of the United States can celebrate and honor their country in an appropriate way. Flag Day:
Flag Day is celebrated on June 14 and celebrates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14th, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. It has been a presidentially proclaimed observance since 1916. Although Flag Day is not a federal holiday, Americans are encouraged to display the flag outside their homes and businesses on this day to honor the history and heritage the American flag represents. According to Presidential Proclamation (2015), For more than 200 years, the American flag has been a proud symbol of the people of our Nation and the values for which we stand. In hues of red, white, and blue, it reflects centuries of struggle and sacrifice -- a constant reminder of our journey from 13 colonies to a Nation united in freedom and liberty, and of the patriots and pioneers who fought for these ideals at home and abroad. On Flag Day and during National Flag Week, we pay tribute to this banner of hope and opportunity, and we celebrate the story of progress it represents.
U.S. Army Birthday:
[fl-le] The U.S. Army was founded on 14 June 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized enlistment of riflemen to serve the United Colonies.
