US Holiday On January 1 2019?
The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Tuesday, 2019-01-01:
New Year's Day:
[fed][ca][ca-le][tx][ny][fl][il-le][pa][hi][ut][az][al][ok][ms-le] New Year's Day is January 1. The celebration of this federal holiday begins the night before, when Americans gather to wish each other a happy and prosperous coming year. Many Americans make New Year's resolutions. Consumer Electronic Show - Day 1:
[other] The International Consumer Electronic Show (CES) is owned and produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the preeminent trade association promoting growth in the $186 billion U.S. consumer technology industry. This show attracts industry participants from around the globe. This annual event is, traditionally, held every year at the beginning of January at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States (date to be confirmed). CEA represents more than 2,000 corporate members involved in the design, development, manufacturing, distribution and integration of consumer electronics products. All profits from CES are reinvested into industry services, including technical training and education, industry promotion, engineering standards development, market research and legislative advocacy. Rose Parade - 130 Edition:
[other] The Rose Parade is an American New Year celebration that takes place on January 1st each year, unless it falls on a Sunday where it is passed to January 2nd. This parade is held in Pasadena, California, since 1890. It is the most popular parade in the United States in which around 40 motorized floats, 20 musical bands and 15 groups of horse riders participate. The president of the organising association chooses a theme each year for the parade, which inspires the people to decorate their floats. The event is broadcast on local, national and international television, thus generating an audience of hundreds of thousands. At the end of the parade, a college football game, called the Rose Bowl, is played. Ohio Braille Literacy Week:
[oh-sp] The Ohio Brille Literacy Week is a week long commemoration in honor of Louis Braille, the inventor of the Braille system used, in modified form, for printing, writing, and musical notation for the blind, and who was born on January 4, 1809, and became blind from an accident at the age of three. This observance has been in effect since 1992-10-28.
