Rosh Hashanah customs include sounding the shofar (a hollowed-out ram's horn) and eating symbolic foods such as apples dipped in honey to evoke a "sweet new year". Day of Repentance - Day 1:

The 10 days of repentance, also called Aseret Yemei Teshuva(Aseret Y'may T'shuvah), end with the conclusion of Yom Kippur. Hebrew month of Tishri 5779 starts:
[30days] Tishrei is the first month of the civil year and the seventh month of the ecclesiastical year on the Hebrew calendar. This month starts generally between September and October on the Gregorian calendar.
