[floating] The General Assembly, by its resolution 54/115 of 1999, recognized internationally the Day of Vesak to acknowledge the contribution that Buddhism, one of the oldest religions in the world, has made for over two and a half millennia and continues to make to the spirituality of humanity. Vesak is celebrated by millions of Buddhists around the world on the day of May that occurs the first full Moon. International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers:
In order to honor the memory of peacekeepers from the United Nations who has lost their lives in the cause of peace;and honoring the men and women who have served and continue to serve in UN Peacekeeping operations and for their high degree of professionalism, dedication and courage, the General Assembly in its resolution 57/129, proclaimed May 29th as the International Day of UN Peacekeepers.
