International Days November 19 2021 (United Nations)

The following is an overview of the days and the corresponding celebration declared by the United Nations that apply to Friday, 2021-11-19:

  • World Toilet Day:

    [UNICEF] World Toilet Day is observed on November 19th and established by the World Toilet Organization to raise global awareness of the struggle that more that 2 billion people face every day without access to proper, clean sanitation. The Day also brings to the forefront the health, emotional and psychological consequences the poor endure as a result of inadequate sanitation. By a resolution of a late July 2013, November 19th was officially designated by the General Assembly as "World Toilet Day".
  • Gurpurab:

    [floating] With the interest of respecting the diversity of United Nations staff members, resolution 62/250 designates Gurpurab as a floating holiday. Gurpurab is a feast that celebrates the birthday of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak. This is one of the most sacred festivals in Sikhism.

[floating] A 'floating' holiday. An employee at the United Nations may or may not choose to take this day as a holiday. Starting in 2016, the United Nations staff will no longer have 10 official holidays. There will be nine official holidays and each employee will be able to choose one of seven floating holidays as a 10th holiday.
