    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Isaiah 6:1-8

    1In the year that King Uzzi'ah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up;and his train filled the temple. 2Above him stood the seraphim;each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3And one called to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;the whole earth is full of his glory." 4And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5And I said: "Woe is me! For I am lost;for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!" 6Then flew one of the seraphim to me, having in his hand a burning coal which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7And he touched my mouth, and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips;your guilt is taken away, and your sin forgiven." 8And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalms 40:2, 4, 7-11

    1I waited patiently for the LORD;he inclined to me and heard my cry. 3He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD. 6Sacrifice and offering thou dost not desire;but thou hast given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering thou hast not required. 7Then I said, "Lo, I come;in the roll of the book it is written of me;8I delight to do thy will, O my God;thy law is within my heart." 9I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation;lo, I have not restrained my lips, as thou knowest, O LORD. 10I have not hid thy saving help within my heart, I have spoken of thy faithfulness and thy salvation;I have not concealed thy steadfast love and thy faithfulness from the great congregation.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Luke 10:1-9

    1After this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to come. 2And he said to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. 3Go your way;behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. 4Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals;and salute no one on the road. 5Whatever house you enter, first say, `Peace be to this house!' 6And if a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon him;but if not, it shall return to you. 7And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages;do not go from house to house. 8Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you;9heal the sick in it and say to them, `The kingdom of God has come near to you.'

  • WEDNESDAY FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT 2017:

    Advent Time.

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Is 25:6-10a

    On this mountain the LORD of hosts
    will provide for all peoples
    A feast of rich food and choice wines,
    juicy, rich food and pure, choice wines.
    On this mountain he will destroy
    the veil that veils all peoples,
    The web that is woven over all nations;
    he will destroy death forever.
    The Lord GOD will wipe away
    the tears from all faces;
    The reproach of his people he will remove
    from the whole earth;for the LORD has spoken.

    On that day it will be said:
    "Behold our God, to whom we looked to save us!
    This is the LORD for whom we looked;
    let us rejoice and be glad that he has saved us!"
    For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Ps 23:1-3a, 3b-4, 5, 6

    R. (6cd) I shall live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.
    The LORD is my shepherd;I shall not want.
    In verdant pastures he gives me repose;
    Beside restful waters he leads me;
    he refreshes my soul.
    R. I shall live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.
    He guides me in right paths
    for his name's sake.
    Even though I walk in the dark valley
    I fear no evil;for you are at my side
    With your rod and your staff
    that give me courage.
    R. I shall live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.
    You spread the table before me
    in the sight of my foes;
    You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
    R. I shall live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.
    Only goodness and kindness follow me
    all the days of my life;
    And I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
    for years to come.
    R. I shall live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Mt 15:29-37

    At that time:
    Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee,
    went up on the mountain, and sat down there.
    Great crowds came to him,
    having with them the lame, the blind, the deformed, the mute,
    and many others.
    They placed them at his feet, and he cured them.
    The crowds were amazed when they saw the mute speaking,
    the deformed made whole,
    the lame walking,
    and the blind able to see,
    and they glorified the God of Israel.

    Jesus summoned his disciples and said,
    "My heart is moved with pity for the crowd,
    for they have been with me now for three days
    and have nothing to eat.
    I do not want to send them away hungry,
    for fear they may collapse on the way."
    The disciples said to him,
    "Where could we ever get enough bread in this deserted place
    to satisfy such a crowd?"
    Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?"
    "Seven," they replied, "and a few fish."
    He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground.
    Then he took the seven loaves and the fish,
    gave thanks, broke the loaves,
    and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds.
    They all ate and were satisfied.
    They picked up the fragments left over--seven baskets full.
