  Ephesians 3:2-12

  2assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for you, 3how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. 4When you read this you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;6that is, how the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. 7Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God's grace which was given me by the working of his power. 8To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9and to make all men see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things;10that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places. 11This was according to the eternal purpose which he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12in whom we have boldness and confidence of access through our faith in him.

  Luke 12:39-48

  39But know this, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into. 40You also must be ready;for the Son of man is coming at an unexpected hour." 41Peter said, "Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for all?" 42And the Lord said, "Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time? 43Blessed is that servant whom his master when he comes will find so doing. 44Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. 45But if that servant says to himself, `My master is delayed in coming,' and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, 46the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will punish him, and put him with the unfaithful. 47And that servant who knew his master's will, but did not make ready or act according to his will, shall receive a severe beating. 48But he who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, shall receive a light beating. Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required;and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more.

  FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

  Eph 4:7-16

  Brothers and sisters:
  Grace was given to each of us
  according to the measure of Christ"s gift.
  Therefore, it says:
  
  He ascended on high and took prisoners captive;
  he gave gifts to men.
  
  What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended
  into the lower regions of the earth?
  The one who descended is also the one who ascended
  far above all the heavens,
  that he might fill all things.
  
  And he gave some as Apostles, others as prophets,
  others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers,
  to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry,
  for building up the Body of Christ,
  until we all attain to the unity of faith
  and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood
  to the extent of the full stature of Christ,
  so that we may no longer be infants,
  tossed by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching
  arising from human trickery,
  from their cunning in the interests of deceitful scheming.
  Rather, living the truth in love,
  we should grow in every way into him who is the head, Christ,
  from whom the whole Body,
  joined and held together by every supporting ligament,
  with the proper functioning of each part,
  brings about the Body's growth and builds itself up in love.

  GOSPEL OF THE MASS

  Lk 13:1-9

  Some people told Jesus about the Galileans
  whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
  He said to them in reply,
  "Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way
  they were greater sinners than all other Galileans?
  By no means!
  But I tell you, if you do not repent,
  you will all perish as they did!
  Or those eighteen people who were killed
  when the tower at Siloam fell on them?
  do you think they were more guilty
  than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem?
  By no means!
  But I tell you, if you do not repent,
  you will all perish as they did!"
  
  And he told them this parable:
  "There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard,
  and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none,
  he said to the gardener,
  'For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree
  but have found none.
  So cut it down.
  Why should it exhaust the soil?'
  He said to him in reply,
  'Sir, leave it for this year also,
  and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it;
  it may bear fruit in the future.
  If not you can cut it down.'"
