  • St. Lucy, Virgin, Martyr (Memorial) 2017:

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    2 Corinthians 10:17--11:2

    1017"Let him who boasts, boast of the Lord." 18For it is not the man who commends himself that is accepted, but the man whom the Lord commends.111I wish you would bear with me in a little foolishness. Do bear with me! 2I feel a divine jealousy for you, for I betrothed you to Christ to present you as a pure bride to her one husband.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalms 31:3-4, 6, 8, 16-17

    2Incline thy ear to me, rescue me speedily! Be thou a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me! 3Yea, thou art my rock and my fortress;for thy name's sake lead me and guide me, 5Into thy hand I commit my spirit;thou hast redeemed me, O LORD, faithful God. 7I will rejoice and be glad for thy steadfast love, because thou hast seen my affliction, thou hast taken heed of my adversities, 15My times are in thy hand;deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors! 16Let thy face shine on thy servant;save me in thy steadfast love!

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Matthew 25:1-13

    1"Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them;4but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6But at midnight there was a cry, `Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.' 7Then all those maidens rose and trimmed their lamps. 8And the foolish said to the wise, `Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' 9But the wise replied, `Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you;go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.' 10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast;and the door was shut. 11Afterward the other maidens came also, saying, `Lord, lord, open to us.' 12But he replied, `Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.' 13Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

  • WEDNESDAY SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT 2017:

    Advent Time.

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Is 40:25-31

    To whom can you liken me as an equal?
    says the Holy One.
    Lift up your eyes on high
    and see who has created these things:
    He leads out their army and numbers them,
    calling them all by name.
    By his great might and the strength of his power
    not one of them is missing!
    Why, O Jacob, do you say,
    and declare, O Israel,
    “My way is hidden from the LORD,
    and my right is disregarded by my God”?

    Do you not know
    or have you not heard?
    The LORD is the eternal God,
    creator of the ends of the earth.
    He does not faint nor grow weary,
    and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny.
    He gives strength to the fainting;
    for the weak he makes vigor abound.
    Though young men faint and grow weary,
    and youths stagger and fall,
    They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength,
    they will soar as with eagles’ wings;
    They will run and not grow weary,
    walk and not grow faint.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    PS 103:1-2, 3-4, 8 and 10

    R. (1) O bless the Lord, my soul!
    Bless the LORD, O my soul;
    and all my being, bless his holy name.
    Bless the LORD, O my soul,
    and forget not all his benefits.
    R. O bless the Lord, my soul!
    He pardons all your iniquities,
    he heals all your ills.
    He redeems your life from destruction,
    he crowns you with kindness and compassion.
    R. O bless the Lord, my soul!
    Merciful and gracious is the LORD,
    slow to anger and abounding in kindness.
    Not according to our sins does he deal with us,
    nor does he requite us according to our crimes.
    R. O bless the Lord, my soul!

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Mt 11:28-30

    Jesus said to the crowds:
    “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
    and I will give you rest.
    Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
    for I am meek and humble of heart;
    and you will find rest for yourselves.
    For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
